walking sticks

One of my uncles is celebrity entymologist. He lives in Hawaii and once upon a time he was crawling on his belly in the rainforest and discovered a carnivorous fly. All the other insect nerds got very excited, SO excited in fact that that fly was named after him and then he and his fly [...]

the verandah

In Grenada we lived right over Westerhall Bay.
I must have spent thousands of hours sitting out there on the verandah, reading, writing, talking to my mom, playing with my son or just sitting quietly, gazing at the mountains and soaking up the astonishing shades of green. This photo speaks to me… It says peace, home, dazzling [...]

My name is María. I like wasabi, patronize bunny rabbits and think red wine really needs to stop pretending it's not purple.

I lived in Caribbean for four glorious years. My son - Joaquín the illustrious Bean - was born on the island of Grenada. He's beautiful, brilliant and has two birth certificates.

Now we're back in the land of snow and afternoon sunsets, and all the diet Coke and Thomas the Tank Engine in the world won't cushion the blow of such culture shock.

This is our story.
