tired

I am so tired. So very tired.

I haven’t gotten more than four hours of sleep a night for weeks. Every night, after everyone in the house FINALLY retires to bed, I am so thrilled with the silence and my solitude that I stay up doing stupidness* until 3. Even though I’m totally exhausted. The Bean gets up by 7.

My goal for the evening is to be sleeping by 11.

My goal for tomorrow is to get some new Richard Scarry books.

*Stupidness is very common in the Grenadian lexicon. It’s not in the dictionary but it should be.

Richard Scarry is great. I grew up with his books, and am trying to find them for the Babe!

And I know what you mean re staying up late when the sproglet wakes up early… oh dear oh dear… Not reasonable.

My name is María. I like wasabi, patronize bunny rabbits and think red wine really needs to stop pretending it's not purple.

I lived in Caribbean for four glorious years. My son - Joaquín the illustrious Bean - was born on the island of Grenada. He's beautiful, brilliant and has two birth certificates.

Now we're back in the land of snow and afternoon sunsets, and all the diet Coke and Thomas the Tank Engine in the world won't cushion the blow of such culture shock.

This is our story.
