Grenada loses a rising star
Grenada lost a rising star on Friday. Kurt “DJ Kaution” George was on his way to Point Salines International Airport when the car he was driving crashed. Firefighters were called to the scene and used the jaws of life to remove him from the wreck, but he was already gone.
He had been on his way to catch a flight to New York, where his wife was about to give birth to twins.
Kaution was well-known and well-liked throughout Grenada. He could be heard on Wee FM Radio, in my opinion the best radio station in Grenada. He played in local clubs as part of the DJ organization Point Blank Music, which can be heard on FLAVA 107 FM in New York.
Mikey Hutchinson, webmaster for Wee FM, writes:
What moves through us is a silence__________, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch, we may not understand why you left this earth so soon, or why you left before we were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, we begin to remember not just that you died, but that you lived. And that your life gave us memories too beautiful to forget.
Kisha is one of many who wrote on the wall of the Facebook Group set up in Kaution’s memory:
Back in the day Kurt was so quiet, but always had jokes. I remember as kids Kurt always scratchin’ and mixin’ on his exercise book. It was only fitting that music was in his blood and he became a DJ.
Kurt you went too friggin’ soon boi! You left us to cry but celebrate your life. You are a proud daddy now so your legacy will live on, in not 1 but 2!!
God knows what he has planned for all of us, therefore we should not question it as painful as it seems. This should be a lesson for us to let go of hatred that we have for others, because old or young we ALL have to go, it’s just that sometimes it happens in a flash…
Though I met him in passing a couple of times, I did not know Kaution personally, but I know a few of his friends, all of whom are stunned with sadness at his passing. I’m a little overwhelmed by the outpouring of grief I’m seeing on Facebook. It seems everyone knew and loved this guy. At moments like this I am reminded that Grenada is in many ways more like a huge extended family than just a country.
Rumor has it that the babies arrived the day after their father’s tragic passing. A commenter on LaBay’s Weblog notes that there were three passengers in the other vehicle. They were all injured, but are expected to recover.
My heart goes out to Kaution’s friends and family, especially his wife and children.

Just a quick note, “Kaution” was not on his way to the Airport to fly out, he was booked to leave on Saturday.
May his soul rest in peace.

@Partygrenada.com – About the crash photos — yes, please stop that. I’m heartbroken thinking how I would feel if that were my brother. Have some respect, people. Please.

I agree, please stop fowarding the photos, its already tragic & if you guys care about him & his family, you’ll respect them. Those pictures, will just hurt his family more. Out of respect for his family & the people that are close to him I suggest everyone delete those photos!

My heart goes out to the family and friends. He was a promising respectable young man. let us pray for his wife and children to make it throuhg this terrible time. May God bless his family through this tragedy and put a smile on their face when ever they think about him instead of a sad impression. I think he would like you to remember him with a smile.
God Bless
